Red Bank Humanists

Red Bank Centennial Parade - May 17, 2008

14 Red Bank Humanists braved the sunshine to march in the Red Bank Centennial Parade. We had to wait about an hour and a half in the staging area before we actually got to hit the parade trail.

We had promotional materials to hand out along the parade route announcing our upcoming events and listing our website address.

Rounding the corner onto Front St. at the top of the parade, you can see Young Master Will who had a great time doing his hat trick for the spectators. You can also see the sound system Jon Kalfus provided, which was used to play John Lennon's song, Imagine.

"Imagine there's no Heaven. It's easy if you try. No hell below us.
Above us only sky.
Imagine all the people
Living for today."

We had two other RBH members in the car, Bobbi Daugherty and Kathleen Czerwinski, who waved at the spectators with big smiles and got the same in return.
Ironically, the parade organizer placed us with the 3 or 4 church groups that participated in the event. But if you look closer... (see next photo)
We were amused that we had to follow the pastel cross for the entire parade. That aside, we all felt that the response of the spectators was very positive. Certainly, more Red Bankers are aware of us now and perhaps a few of them will participate in our events.
